Pest professionals who choose to join the BASIS PROMPT Professional Register between now and the end of 2014 will be able to do so free of charge and with no requirement to collect Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points in the current year.

The free offer has been made in light of the new requirement that by the end of 2014 all technicians working for British Pest Control Association (BPCA) members must be qualified to a minimum of the Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent) and be registered on a recognised CPD scheme, such as BASIS PROMPT.

BASIS managing director, Rob Simpson, commented: “Anyone who takes up this offer, will have no obligation to make payment or attain BASIS points until the 2015 Membership year. Applicants will, however, be invoiced for the 2015 membership in December and membership packs will only be issued on receipt of the 2015 payment.

BASIS PROMPT is an industry initiative providing independent proof that a pest controller has received proper professional training and has continued to update their expertise. To be on the register technicians need to have achieved the Level 2 award in Pest Management or Pest Control, or equivalent. Registration must be renewed annually and to be eligible to remain registered, technicians and managers must gain 20 CPD points a year.

Points can be gained through a variety of methods such as reading copies of Pest magazine or completing the Pest Tests that we publish in every edition of Pest magazine. You can view the most recent Pest Test here.
