BASIS PROMPT has relaxed its CPD requirements for Register members, with industry events, conferences and meetings across the UK cancelled.
Stephen Jacob, chief executive of BASIS, said: “Events are typically a focal point for collecting points, but with so many sadly not going ahead, we are extending the year-end period.
“This allows points to be collected into the next points year. The only stipulation is that the full requirement of points for the 2020 points year and 2021 points year are fulfilled for both years, by December 31, 2021.”
For instance, full PROMPT members are required to gain 20 CPD points annually. However, they will now need to collect 40 points over the two-year period.
Mr Jacob added: “This flexibility will enable our members to remain on the PROMPT Register, while ensuring standards remain consistent, allowing essential pest control work to continue.
“Depending on your qualification, the required number of points will vary. For example, full PROMPT members will need to collect 40 points by December 31, 2021; associate members, associate rodent specific and associate bird specific members will need to collect 20 points by December 31, 2021.”
Despite opportunities to collect points being reduced, BASIS PROMPT is encouraging members to seek CPD points remotely in order to stay up-to-date with industry innovation and regulatory changes.
Mr Jacob added: “There are various options that can be completed at home, including reading technical publications or newsletters, as well as participating in online training sessions.
“For instance, members can gain points by listening to Killgerm’s regular podcast or participating in Pest Tests in Pest magazine.”
