After 14 months of planning, the Pest Expert Consortium went live on December 1. Gareth Davies, owner of Pest & Property Solutions, and a founding member of the consortium, said that the idea for a national group of businesses working together came to him soon after setting up his own business.
Mr Davies said that he kept coming across lots of people that had been quoted “absolutely extortionate” prices for wasp nests and mice work.
“An example was one of these UK coverage companies that claims they are based locally, but they actually have a got a call centre somewhere with a local number,” Mr Davies said. “They subcontract that out; the subcontractor probably gets the normal fee, but they charge the end customer £350, which is just hoodwinking people.”
After coming across a few of these incidents, Mr Davies said he spent time thinking of a way to counter this.
