Lodi UK will host its first webinar to advise pest controllers, growers and agronomists on the latest best practice on effective grain store pest protection.
Sam D’Angelo, at Lodi UK’s marketing manager, said grain rejections can cost farmers as much as £50/tonne, which is why grain and animal feed storage needs close attention.
The BASIS-accredited training webinar is on Wednesday, April 21 at 10am.
Mr D’Angelo said: “The ‘Grain Store Pest Protection’ webinar is worth two BASIS CPD points, two PROMPT points and one BPCA point and is aimed at agronomists, arable farmers and pest controllers who want to protect their grain stores or animal feed bins from pests such as grain weevils and rodents.
“The webinar will be presented by two well-known industry specialists and there will also be a live Q&A panel at the end, where you can ask questions and Farmer Tom, arable farmer and founder of the charity, Farmer Time will give a farmer’s perspective.”
Mr D’Angelo added: “Ken Black from Bayer will focus on grain storage hygiene and the importance of early store preparation pre harvest. In addition, Mark Ward from Command Pest Control will be presenting on the practical elements of pest control best practice.
“Following on with the grain theme, we also have Dan Szor, from Cotswolds Distillery talking about the post-harvest process of turning grain into whiskey.”
Mr D’Angelo said that anyone who signs up will be able to request a 16-page guide which will contain all the information included in the webinar, in an easy-to-read format with plenty of additional topics, like fly and rodent control, covered.
