What not to miss at PestTech 2012

Organised by the National Pest Technician”s Association (NPTA), PestTech 2012, on 7 November, promises to be a day to remember. Here are some of the things we think you ought not to miss.

  • The four practical demonstrations – one more than last year – with trapping added to the ferreting, hawks and long netting demos, are a must see for anyone involved in practical pest control, especially, although not exclusively, in a rural setting.
  • Six new companies in the exhibition hall – read about all six here.
  • But don’t forget the regular exhibitors .We hear that:

BASF will be road testing some exciting new formulation technology and canvassing PCO”s opinions. So get along and tell them what you think!

PelGar’s stand will include a giant blow-up of an old versus a new rodenticide label, with particular sections highlighted that may be of concern to PCOs. The aim of this, says PelGar, is to allow people to come and talk to the technical team at anytime during the day to discuss any issues they have with the new wording and gain a full understanding of how it should be interpreted. If the Barrettine/ Pest day, which discussed this topic recently, is any measure Dr Jo Wade and Alex Wade will be kept very busy fielding questions.

SX Environmental, now part of the P+L Systems Group, will be launching BaitSafe, a brand new rodent control product. Unique in the marketplace, and originating in Australia, the product provides a way of applying bait into ceiling and wall voids.

Friendly Data Solutions, the company behind the PestFriend reporting software, will be revealing their new automatic email facility for site reports, invoices and quotes. “This facility has been eagerly awaited as it eliminates Royal Mail from the majority of communication with pest controllers’ customers whilst totally automating the process for those customers who will accept email copies,” says the company’s Nick Peek.

  • The bigger and better 2012 technical workshop programme.
  • The Pest Control News (PCN) Workshop at 11.30 in the Kirkmichael Suite, which, as always, has a controversial flavour.
