Congratulations to Dr Shakir Al-Zaidi and all the team at Russell IPM for receiving the Queen”s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade. These awards are announced each year on the Queens birthday 21 April.
The Queen”s Awards for Enterprise is an awards programme for British businesses and other organisations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development. They are the highest official UK awards for British businesses.
To win an International Trade award the company has to demonstrate substantial growth in overseas earnings and in commercial success. The levels must be considered ”outstanding” in its own market sector whilst showing either outstanding achievement in international trade over three years or continuous achievement in international trade over six years. This is certainly the case with Russell IPM, as the company is a leading manufacturer of pheromone based insect monitoring and control systems in the UK and is one of the largest in Europe. It has been active in the field of Integrated Pest Management exporting over 60% of its products for over 20 years providing green solution in over 30 countries. On the news of this recognition, Diana Al-Zaidi said: “This award is thanks to the hard work put in by every single member of staff matched by that of our international partners around the world.” As founder Shakir Al-Zaidi explained: “From day one we have invested in people, technology and new markets. I wish all our technical sales teams could be with us right now to celebrate this achievement. It’s their hard work that has provided the basis of our success.” Winners are allowed to use the Queen”s Award emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for a period of five years. They are visited during the year by a member of the royal family to present the physical award, a crystal chalice. In addition, they are invited to attend a royal garden party in July at Buckingham Palace – so an ideal opportunity for Shakir and Diana to dress-up in their finery and enjoy their moment (new outfit already on order says Diana!). |
