First quarter results Rentokil was also in the news on Wednesday 19 April, when it released its first quarter results for 2017. The company reported a 10% increase in revenue, just over 3% of which was from organic growth i.e. from the existing business, with almost 7% coming from acquisitions. Within this pest control was the star performer growing by some 19%. The company reported a continuing strong performance in Asia, Pacific, Latin America, the UK and, in its largest market, North America. Rentokil has already acquired 12 businesses this year; ten in pest control. This includes Atlanta-based pest control company Allgood Pest Solutions and the joint venture with PCI Pest Control Pvt. Ltd, India’s largest pest control company, making Rentokil, which has management control of the joint venture, the biggest pest control business in India. On 11 April Rentokil’s joint venture company in Saudi Arabia acquired Sames, the market leader in the commercial pest control sector in that country, so now Rentokil is also the number one pest control company in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Andy Ransom said: “We have made a good start to 2017. Pest Control has performed well across the regions. We are particularly pleased with our JV with PCI in India, which is an outstanding business in a country with significant growth potential for commercial and residential pest control services. We are confident that the company will deliver a performance in line with expectations for 2017.” This good first quarter performance follows a very strong result in 2016, as reported in Pest 49: February & March 2017.
